At the heart of a thriving city is a community that works together to solve problems.
One of the biggest concerns we’ve all noticed is the overabundance of trash in our city. From overflowing garbage cans, lack of dumpsters, to littered streets, waste has become an issue that affects our neighborhoods, our environment, and how we feel about the place we call home.
My Commitment to You as Mayor:
As we work together to address this, here’s how I envision making progress:
-
Community Cleanup Days: Organizing more volunteer-driven cleanup events to address problem spots and build community pride. This initiative has begun and been effectively working thru my Chairing the PG Beautification Board as a City Councilor. We have consistently organized and executed the award winning Valley Creek Clean up days. As co-founder of the + (Plus) One Program, citizens are encouraged to participate year-round by cleaning up their immediate area and one other area of the City on their own schedule.
-
Enhanced Waste Services: Advocate for an increased number of public works team members to care for the public areas within the city. I would work to enhance communication with Jefferson County to assist where possible on their areas within the city. Increased monitoring and requests for clean-up of county roads within the city would be a waste services priority! I would also work to increase the number of local community dumpster/disposal days with evening and weekend hours.
-
Education and Awareness: Launching campaigns to encourage proper waste disposal, recycling, and community involvement. Many of us remember the “Auntie Litter” program and how effective it was with our youth. Let’s work with community members of ALL ages! I would support programs designed at a community level.
-
Enforcement of Regulations: Strengthening policies to reduce illegal dumping and hold violators accountable. While we have an enforcement officer diligently working to combat some of this, it’s time to reevaluate increasing fines in an effort to detour . Your Voice is the Key to Progress
I believe the best solutions come from the people who live here.

Let’s turn this problem into an opportunity to come together and make Pleasant Grove cleaner, greener, and better for everyone.
This is just the beginning of the progress we’ll create—together!
