A Word from the Mayor:

On behalf of the council members, Paula Johnson, Terrie Hicks, Pete Mosley, Philip Houston, William (Skeeter) Bullion and myself, let me say how much we have enjoyed serving you, the citizens of Pleasant Grove these past four years. We are humbled and grateful that you elected us to serve you four more years. Thank you. As an elected body, our council has worked well together to make the City of Pleasant Grove the best place to live and raise a family. This City Council has a vision to keep our community headed in the right direction by improving and maintaining city services.

As you read your daily newspaper you will see that crime is on the rise everywhere, even in Pleasant Grove. Please take part as a neighbor by looking out for each other. Watch for any unfamiliar cars that may not belong around your street. If at all possible, take down a tag number, color of the car and please call Pleasant Grove Police Department at 744-7000. We are here to serve and protect.

The new high school is well underway and is coming along very nicely. Weather conditions have been in our favor and if all goes according to plan, the target date for December, 2009 should be reachable.

You now can pay your garbage payment on line. You can go to the city’s web page and on the left side you will see “on-line payments”, click and this will take you to the payment link. You can now set up your billing information and pay on line. If you have not visited the Library on-line, you may go to our city’s web site and click on the library’s link and shop for a book of interest to you. You may now order a book from any library and have it delivered directly to the Pleasant Grove Library. This will save you time and money. So please use this service.

During the City Council meeting on September 1, 2008, city council members agreed beginning October 31, 2008, that the Administration Department, Court Department, Sanitation Department and the clerical employee for the Street and Park Department will work nine hour work days, Monday through Thursday
(7:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) and four hours (7:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.) on Fridays. This will be for a three month trial basis and will be reviewed prior to making it permanent. Please make note of this upcoming change.

Last, but not least, we would like to salute Sgt. Richard Maddox (Police Department), and Jimmy Wells (Fire Department) on their retirement. We wish both of them the best and thank them for serving our city.

                                                                May God continue to bless,
                                                                Jerry W. Brasseale
